Your average commute from Longmont to Denver without traffic with be around 48 minutes. Now during rush hour you can see that increase to a hour plus depending on the day.
Throw in a accident or bad weather and your commute time can go up by 20-30 minutes or more. Just last week my son was coming back on interstate 25 from up north and it completely shut down due to a accident. He was able to find some backroads but all up it still took him 40 minutes longer then it should have. That was on a average weekend day.
The best time to drive to Denver from Longmont is actually weekdays between 10 am – 2 pm or early as possible on weekends.
Yep weekends can be a little hectic too.
Public Transport Options Longmont To Denver
So how about your public transport options?
While there aren’t a plethora of options the best one you likely have is the Bustang.
Bustang can get you to Denver from the Firestone stop which is off I-25 and 119th. The great thing is this is the final stop before Denver so you jump on and the bus will take you straight into Denver Union Station. You can bring bikes so if you work further from Union Station that is a option to then get you where you need to go.
The Bustang website says it will take around 40 minutes to get there. The biggest issue here is the Bustang uses I-25 just like you likely would. So same traffic and weather problems possible although they would hit the toll roads at 144th and be able to take that into Denver which helps. Bustang has a bathroom and free wi-fi too.
There is no light rail close to Longmont. They have talked about it for years but you can grab it from Thornton. This just means you have to navigate to the closest Thornton station and go from there.
Commuting from Longmont to Denver Alternative Options
If this commute doesn’t sound fun to you, you may want to consider alternate working or living locations.
Alternate Work Locations – Boulder, Broomfield Tech Area, Loveland may be good alternate options to look for jobs. Westminster and Thornton would also save you some time on your commute although you will still come across some traffic no matter where you work.
Alternate Living Locations – If you still want the smaller town feel and don’t want to live and work in downtown Denver, you may want to look into the following areas. I have chose these areas because they are on the I-25 corridor but far enough to feel away from the city. They will give you around a 30 minute commute and still give you easy access to Longmont.
