For most of us homeowners we are happy to just go along with our builder off white. No, just me. Honestly, I am not good at painting, so we have only touched one or two walls in our home since we moved in 2018. I know you aren’t all like me, so what are the colors of the year 2025?
I can tell you they are a little more exciting than the years of grey that we just escaped!

I have read through all the articles and pulled some of the top colors that we already know about.
Behr Rumors
Is it a burgundy, a red, a maroon. A mix of all of them. Whatever it is, I can get with this earthy color. It would make a pretty feature wall. Photo Credit to Behr.
Sherwin Williams Quietude
If you are looking for a calming color for a bedroom or office space, this would be my pick. This muted green ushers in whispers of nature.
Dunn-Edwards Caramelized
Need a neutral but don’t want the old boring colors. Caramelized may be a winner for you. I mean just the name promotes a lush feeling of yumminess. Photo credit to Dunn-Edwards.
Valspar Encore
If you are looking for something a little more daring in your space, go with Encore. This royal blue brings bright confidence to a space. Photo credit goes to Valspar
How to Choose the Right Color for Your Space
These are just a few of the 2025 colors of the year. Many of the other colors stem from these main 4 with some soft yellows like yellows like Sherwin Williams thrown into the mix.
If you are like me and just don’t have the first clue where to start with color, many paint companies have tools to help.
Visualization tools where you can take a photo of your room upload it and then paint it can help. However, this should just be your first step.
A color will look different throughout the day as the light changes. Paint chips or products that allow you to get a glimpse of a color using stick on wallpaper can really help. You can stick it up and walk by it at different times of the day. This will help you decide if you should put in the effort or not.
Don’t forget, the darker or brighter you go, the harder it will be to bring it back to a white or light color. In other words, unless you want triple the effort, be able to live with the color for a while before you put it on the wall.
You may also want to hold paint chips up to your existing furniture to make sure the colors aren’t clashing. Like using Valspar Encore with a bright red sofa may give you more of a American flag feel then you were hoping for.
Whatever you choose to do with your space, make sure YOU love it. You are the one that lives there day in and day out. A cozy, comfortable home is a home that brings peace and joy!
